State of the Stat

SERIES INFO: WSJ breaks down a key stat or data point to explain the current state of the political system — and why it matters.

Title Sequence State of the Stat
The design was inspired by ‘I Voted’ stickers, with the U.S. flag’s colors serving as a foundation for an expanded, election-themed palette. To maintain focus on data and statistics, we used an off-white background, creating a clean, minimal backdrop that kept visual noise to a minimum.

Equipped

SERIES INFO: WSJ examines military innovation and tactics emerging around the world, breaking down the tech behind the weaponry and its potential impact.

Visuals for Equipped drew inspiration from military equipment viewfinders, blueprints, and stealth-mode color schemes. Our team was able to source technical drawings of the highlighted weapons, which we transformed and animated to explain their key features.

Breaking Ground

SERIES INFO: Breaking Ground digs into megaprojects around the world, uncovering what these developments might mean for the surrounding region and the ultimate costs.

As a map-centric video series, it was essential to develop a consistent and visually engaging design system for Breaking Ground’s map graphics. Our team landed on a bold yellow color palette, inspired by construction signage and workwear, to evoke the series’ theme while ensuring high visibility. This vibrant palette contrasts effectively with map satellite imagery, enhancing legibility and drawing attention to key information on screen.
